Report on Demonstration Demanding the Immediate Resignation of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ)/Noda Administration Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya
On January 28, the Happiness Realization Party held simultaneous demonstrations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya calling for the immediate resignation of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ)/Noda administration in order to show its firm stance against the tax increases that the Noda administration has been seeking.
In Tokyo, notwithstanding fine weather, temperatures were a chilly 5°C (41°F), yet over 2,000 gathered in Yoyogi Park in Shibuya ward.
The demonstrators proceeded from Shibuya Station to Omotesando and Harajuku Station, holding placards and chanting slogans including “Prime Minister Noda, resign now!” “Dissolve and listen to the people’s voice!” and “Tax hikes oppress the people!” Voices of agreement were heard from the sidewalks, and bystanders even spontaneously joined in the march.
Party leader, Shugaku Tsuiki and speakers from the Happy Science Institute of Government and Management addressed crowds from a loudspeaker van in front of Shibuya Station forcefully declaring that the DPJ policy of increasing taxes in the name of social insurance was ruinous for Japan, and that using taxes to cater to the cost of social insurance in Japan’s rapidly aging society would result in a grossly overtaxed nation.
The Osaka Demonstration
In Osaka, over 1,000 people gathered for the demonstration.
The participants moved through the skyscraper
area of Osaka calling out slogans such as “Absolutely no consumption tax increases!” and “Don’t raise taxes during this deflation-led recession!”
Many people along the streets waved and joined in with the chanting, and the demonstrators received a great deal of support for their opposition of an increased consumption tax.
The Nagoya Demonstration
The demonstration in Nagoya took place in the central business district of Sakae, and had over 1,700 participants.
Young couples with children shouted out words of support, and many people in stores expressed their opposition to higher taxes making for a demonstration that conveyed the popular anger with the current administration and, at the same time, the high expectations held of the Happiness Realization Party—and with this the sense of responsibility such expectations entail.
Altogether 4,700 people in the three cities participated in the demonstration calling for the immediate resignation of the DPJ/Noda administration.
The Happiness Realization Party would like to express its sincere gratitude to all of the people who braved the cold to participate in the demonstrations and make their voices heard.
The Happiness Realization Party is resolute in pressing for the immediate resignation of the DJP/Noda administration, in stopping any rise in consumption tax, and in leading Japan forwards.
Watch us succeed!
