The Happiness Realization Party has established the Nuclear Power Promotion Local Assembly Members Group, and submitted a written request for restart and new construction of nuclear power plants.
On June 17, the Happiness Realization Party established “the Happiness Realization Party Nuclear Power Promotion Local Assembly Members Group” (representative: Isao MATSUZAWA; Kagoshima Prefecture Satsuma Sendai City Assembly Member) in order to raise public awareness about the necessity of nuclear energy and realize restart and new construction of new nuclear power plants. At the establishment of the group, Isao Matsuzawa submitted a written request to the Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture, demanding safe uninterrupted operation of the Units 1 and 2 of Sendai Nuclear Power Plant and the construction of new, safer nuclear power plants. Also, Aiko IKI (representative of HRP’s Kanagawa Prefecture Headquarters and Chair of HRP’s Policy Research Council Energy Division) submitted a written request to the Prime Minister, demanding the prompt restart and new construction of nuclear power plants around Japan for the nation’s economic growth and energy security.
Despite the fact that Japan has a large number of nuclear power plants, many of them are inactive and shut down now. While the people are struggles with soaring electricity bills, we must make effective use of nuclear power, as well as making continuous efforts to improve safety of the nuclear power plants. At least, from the perspectives of energy security and the economy, nuclear power is absolutely necessary, until more effective and promising alternative energy can be developed.
In addition to the above goals, the Happiness Realization Party’s Nuclear Power Promotion Local Assembly Members Group aims to develop the basic technology for the next-generation advanced reactors, and promote the construction of demonstration fusion power plants, aiming for the realization of the use of purely domestically produced nuclear power.
