Japan’s First! Kuma Academy Co-founder Cheng-Hui Ho Holds Special Classes in Okinawa
2025.09.30
Cheng-Hui Ho – Chair Adviser and Co-founder of Taiwan’s private civil defense education organization, Kuma Academy – conducted his first special classes in Japan in Okinawa Prefecture. The class was held in Ishigaki City on Saturday, September 27, and in Urasoe City on Sunday, September 28. There were total of 200 attendees for both venues.
(The events were co-hosted by “the Association to for Protecting Taiwan and Okinawa from Chinese Hegemonism” and “the Okinawa Prefectural Headquarters of the HRP”.)
As part of civil defense, Mr. Ho in his lecture discussed how to respond to a state of emergency, as well as information warfare, cognitive warfare, and psychological warfare from peacetimes. Mr. Ho also explained how Taiwanese people’s recognition has been changing.
He further emphasized that in civil defense, “mental defense” is crucial before armed defense. He stressed that we should not run away from the threat from the Chinese Communist Party. We should always face it head-on.
In the second part of the event, a panel discussion, Secretary-General Enatsu sounded a warning to the people of Okinawa, who are facing a crisis, quoting the preface of Is There a Future for Taiwan and Okinawa? by Ryuho Okawa, the President of HRP:
“‘Taiwan’ and ‘Okinawa.’ If diplomatic decisions are mistaken in the first half of the twenty-first century, these regions could disappear from the world map.”
Last year, the Okinawa Prefectural Headquarters of the HRP actively continued its initiatives, including submitting a petition to the prefectural governor, requesting to strengthen a “comprehensive citizen protection system” in case of emergency and “deterrence to prevent a Taiwan contingency,” emphasizing cooperation and promotion of these measures.
